Well, I would like to say everything was amazing and it was all sunshine and rainbows for Parker's first day of Kindergarten, but...I'm not going to lie. Parker is getting up at 6 and coming to school with me. So he hangs out for about an hour and a half before he catches the shuttle bus over to Maize Central Elementary. So as soon as I woke him up Tuesday, he had diarrhea. He told me his clothes were making his sweaty. Then on the way to school I wasn't playing the right songs and the volume was never at the right level. Whew...lots of stress for mommy! Another diarrhea break. When we got to school he did help me get a couple of things done and in the process he stub his toe on my door. So in front of my colleagues, he threw his shoe at me and then went to cry under my desk. Then I had planned to take him down to the commons area and buy his breakfast. Well they had nothing there he liked and he let me know ALL about it! Then another bathroom diarrhea break for him. It was about time to get on the bus and he wanted to wait outside for it so we did. But I was not doing my job of keeping the bugs off him - didn't know I was supposed to bring his magic bubble that keeps all bugs big and small off him.
New paragraph because this is where the story turns around...the bus pulls up and there goes my little boy. He is a big kid now and gets on the bus no problem. To my relief he sits in a seat on the side of the bus where Kevin and I can see him. We get a big smile and a wave out the bus window. Kevin and I hurry over to the school to beat the bus and we do. He gets off one of the thirty buses and walks right up to the school doors. He does spot us in the distance and gives us a little wave. Then we beat him to his classroom. We get to watch him round the corner with a para that has been helping all the little kids find their classrooms. Parker gives us a high five and walks through the door of Mrs. Fieser's room. He hangs up his light-up Monster Truck backpack and then finds a friendly face - a friend that he had in preschool. He is off and playing and I can finally breathe.
I know his morning was all nerves and I don't think he would understand that. I'm just glad that my big boy is a confident kid that I know will be awesome at school. He is fearless, intelligent, and handsome and I know he will be successful!

Parker's First Day of Kindergarten
After school, he got to ride the bus to Tammy's house and she claims he was on Cloud 9 when he got off. I know he has always envied those kids as they got off the bus at Tammy's house and now he is one of the them. He is part of the big kid crowd!
Maus picked him up to see a movie that afternoon (Turbo) and after that I got to hear all about his school day. He said he loved it and was so excited about everything. His favorite part was going outside and PE - imagine that.
