3 Weeks Old

It amazes me how fast babies change! Everyday I look at Kendall and I feel like she looks so different. Her expressions are absolutely priceless. She keeps her mom, dad, and brother laughing! Nights have been okay. Last week there were a couple of nights that she slept in 4 hour blocks (Mom REALLY appreciates that!), but this week has been no such luck. Of course she has gas and the pain that goes with it, so she really just likes to be held during that time. At least this time around, Dad and I have a better feel for the "baby thing" and don't get so worked up about her crying. Since Dad is working right now, I have been in charge at night. Some nights seem like they are never going to end, but how can you complain when you see her little face. Kendall sleeps the best in the morning from about 6 to 10. So sometimes Parker sleeps in and I can steal a nap. We have noticed in the last couple of days that she is becoming more alert and follows Parker and I's face from side to side. And her neck is so strong; she does an awesome job of holding her head up. She hasn't minded tummy time and loves to be propped up on her brown pillow. Baths so far are just okay...she prefers to sit with me in the whirlpool tub. The jets really make her eyes get HUGE! I would say her favorite thing is to fall asleep on Dad's chest in the rocking chair. Everytime I come home from volleyball practice, that is where I find them. I think they could both sleep the evening away like that.

 15 days old

Yep, she has that same crazy hair that Parker did. 22 days old.

Although he is not a fan of the crying, Parker has been doing amazing with Kendall! Obviously she wakes up and cries during the night, but even though they share a hallway, Parker still hasn't been gotten up because of her. And whenever she cries, Parker is sure to tell me "Kendall wants to eat!" Which is correct 90% of the time! If I tell him that she just ate and I remind him that sometimes babies just cry, he does the Big Brother "Thing" and tries to make her happy. He will hunt down her pacifier and give it to her (very careful to not touch the part she sucks on) or finds a rattle or toy and bounces it in front of her. He even pats her tummy or back and says "it's okay Kendall." He is too cute! I must say that he has been quite the helper!

Jabara Flight Festival

Our follow up to Big Truck Night was to go see some airplanes. Over the weekend, Jabara Airport had an air show. Almost all the cousins (Jozzy, Addie, & Ellah) got together to attend the event. Our first stop before looking at any airplanes was to bounce (or course!). And they had a little ride for the kids too.

Again, what would life be without Lightning McQueen and Mator?

Around and around we went. Parker is a dare devil! "Faster, Mom, Faster!"

I was checking to see if his eyes were going in circles.
The kids were somewhat content, so we went on to see the airplanes and helicopters.

Then the airshow started. It was a bit overcast that day, but when the sun came out it was hard for the kiddos to see what was going on. So bright! But there was a very cool semi that blew A LOT of smoke, threw out some mega flames, and went REALLY fast - 365 mph fast! Parker enjoyed when 2 planes were going at once. He thought they were racing; imagine that!

Yep, Kendall came along and yep, she slept the whole time!

Big Truck Night

For the third year in a row, us Meirowsky's have attended Big Truck Night that the Parent As Teachers Program has set up. It was a hot evening, but Parker enjoyed seeing the trucks, especially this year because Mator was there! Addie and Ellah were able to join Parker this year.

Kendall just took it easy!

New Surroundings

What a sleeper! I think Kendall would sleep ALL DAY if we would let her. At night is a slightly different story. Some nights are better than others. Bad nights she gets up every hour to hour and a half to eat. Really bad nights, after she eats she either gets the hiccups or poops and then can’t go back to sleep without some rocking time. However, she has had a couple great nights where she sleeps for three of four hours at a time. Wow I feel refreshed in the morning when she does that. It is definitely trickier this time around with 2 kids. Kevin and I slept when Parker slept. This time around Kevin is working (and it is so hot out there – he comes home and is worn down) and when Kendall sleeps I try to do something with Parker.

He has been such a wonderful big brother. He has always been very independent, so when Kendall needs attention he has no problem finding something else to do which is usually one of the three – watch a movie, play Wii (he is a pro at Super Mario Cart!), or play with his cars. But he loves his sister. “She is like a princess” and “she is so cute” are ways he describes his sister. He always wants to hug and kiss her. So far he hasn’t crossed the line of squishing her or being too rough; he has a natural niche for being around a baby. He really enjoys “entertaining” her and holding her hand. We have the sweetest kids!

Loni, Addie, and Bo have been over a couple of times. Bo is about 6 weeks older than Kendall, and his size really shows it! Aunt Loni and I can’t wait for the two to be able to sit next to each other and play (or fight over toys).

At Kendall's 2 week check up (actually was a week and a half, 10 days old) she was back to her birth weight + 2 ounces. Dr. Tsang said they like to see them back to their birth weight after 14 days so no worries Kendall is eating just fine! Her 9 lb 5 oz weight put her in the 75% and she grew an inch (22 inches) making her in the 94% for length. Her head is a little on the small side at 26% with 14 inches. But she looks well proportioned if you ask me. Just in the last day she has started looking all around like she can see some things. I can't wait to play with her!

The Kendall Story...

She's here! Kendall is a week old yesterday and I'm just now getting a moment to tell her story. So here I go...

Last Tuesday, 8th, I started having some semi regular contractions starting at about 4:00 in the afternoon. I continued about my normal day and even went over to Grandpa Kirk's house for a visit that evening. After we got home, went through our normal bedtime routine with Parker, and got to bed, I got about an hour of sleep before the contractions were getting pretty close together and more intense. I thought I would let Dad catch some z's and I would wait until the contractions were a little closer. So at 2:30am the contractions were about 4 to 6 minutes apart, so I got Dad up and called Maus to come over to babysit Parker. We arrived at the hospital around 3:30am, I was admitted and checked. At that point I was only dialated to a 2 so they said they would give it an hour and see how I progessed. An hour later, I had jumped to a 4 so they hooked me up to an IV. Thank goodness; if they would have sent me home at that point, I don't know how I would have made it through the contractions a whole lot longer. I did last a bit longer before we got the epidural, I was dialated to a 5/6 at that point. Talk about relief and, BONUS, I got a nap! We had awesome nurses! They were so helpful and made sure both Dad and I were completely comfortable. They kept saying how fast I was moving and told us they thought Kendall would be here before lunch. Boy, did they get our hopes up! First, my pain kept coming back, so they had to give me stronger meds three times and move the epidural cathader once. Then as she got closer to coming, they discovered that she was at an angle inside me. So they had me move from side to side trying to move her (easier said then done). Anyway...Dr. Cline made the annoucement that it was time to push and after 10/15 minutes of pushing Kendall Rae Meirowsky arrived into the world! Dad got to cut the cord and I got the honor of holding our new baby girl. She was born at 2:15pm weighing in at 9 lbs 3oz and 21 inches long. And she is every bit of ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

Kendall had several visitors over the next week : Grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, and maybe most importantly Big Brother Parker. Kendall is very fortunate to have so much love in her family.
