Two and a Half Year Update

We visited OJ Watson Park today and had a blast! Parker needed some time outside since we are yard-less right now.

After the pony ride we took a trip on the train around the park.

Then we got a swing at the 18-hole mini golf course.

I would like to say that he helped me on the paddle boat, but his little legs couldn't reach. But he did help the "starving" ducks (yeah right!). They all had their fill when we docked in. We also enjoyed going through the water fountain; cooled us off on the hot morning!

Off to the playground next. "Debbie" was there and was chasing Parker around. He got some of the other kids involved in his little game. It was hilarious. I'm sure the other parents were thinking we were a little bonkers!
The video doesn't do it justice, but I tried. He is the one yelling..."Hurry guys" "Debbie coming" "Debbie gonna get you" By the end of playtime, all the kids were running around worried that Debbie was right on their tails.

Then the other day, I got to watch Ellah for a bit. Parker had a good time entertaining his little cousin.

And last weekend, we visited Cheney Lake and thanks to Grandpa Tom we took their jet ski out. Parker just loves going fast on ANYTHING! Kevin and him did get going through some waves and he bumped his head on the handle bars. He know says "havta lean back!"

It has been a while since I've rambled about Parker's can-dos. So you can stop reading if you would rather not hear about all his little milestones.
Parker can talk up a storm - literally I think it is hurricane season. He can talk nonstop and we have entered the "why?" stage. He will repeat whatever he is saying until you acknowledge him. We pass by a car dealership close to our new house that has a huge American flag and every time we go by..."Mommy, big flag!"..."Mommy, flag"..."Flag Mommy"..."MOMMY FLAG!" - "Yes, Parker, big flag." We could cut down the repeating if he gave me at least one second between comments. And he is like me in the way that he always has to know what is going on. Whenever I get off the phone, he wants to know who was there. And one of his favorite phrases is "Whatcha doin?" He asks it so much that know we use it as a joke; we just turn it right back on him and ask him "watcha doin?" He just laughs...he thinks its funny. All my examples so far have been short little phrases, but he can easily put 8 or 9 word sentences together. The other day when Ellah was over, he kept accidentally calling her Addie and I corrected him each time. After about the 5th correction he was catching himself. He would say Addie, then growl at himself, roll his eyes, and then say Ellah. So funny his expectations for himself.
Parker has adjusted great to the new house and overall has slept great in his bed. However, another stage we have reached is that their are "roars under his bed." He calls dinosaurs and monsters "roars." We tried to give him a sword to sleep with to fight them off when they come around, but that didn't help. So know we just go with the approach that there is no such thing as "roars." So far that has worked the best. Another good and bad thing (depends on how you look at it) is potty training. Going #1 - he has DOWN! #2 - not quite. Every once in a while, we have success, but not consistently. As for bed wetting - never! He will get up and go every time. The only problem that he has is that he takes his boxers/pants all the way off without a problem, but he can't get them back on by himself. That takes help from mommy and daddy. That is the bad part - sometimes he will get up a couple of times during the night to go to the bathroom. (big yawn) like having a new born baby all over again!
And, as you can see below, we have a nose picker! He will love this picture in about 10 years!
Parker still loves playing anything with a ball. We have gone golfing a couple of times and he loves that. With the basement unfinished, we are able to play baseball down there and he amazes me every time we play. He is a definitely a lefty and watches the ball so well when he hits; and hits it hard! Can't wait for next summer for some T-ball action. He talks about bowling a lot, but we don't do that quite as much. Basketball is the same.
He also loves to go the movie theater. We have seen Toy Story 3, Despicable Me, and How to Train Your Dragon in the last couple of months. Get him a large popcorn and he will sit still the whole movie and eat the WHOLE popcorn by himself. That popcorn thing he gets from the Meirowsky side! Every time we drive by the Warren, he says "movie place." We are ready for the next Disney movie to come out so we can fill him up with popcorn.
Parker also has been working on things other than just hitting a ball. He has his colors down and can count to 10 (most the time) without any help. We have been working on some site words (flashcards) and he has been doing really well with them. It is fun to watch him get excited when I pull the cards down - gets so excited to learn - I don't see that enthusiasm from high school students very often. Coloring is still not real high on his "fun things to do list," but he loves to play with Playdoh. He still likes to read books - his favorite right now is by Dr. Seuss "To Think That I Saw it On Mulberry Street." He just about has the whole thing memorized. I can read most of the sentence, stop, and he will finish it. He calls it the Parker book because I changed the little boys name to Parker in the story. His favorite song is "Jesus Loves Me." I sing it to him before he goes to sleep each night right after we pray. He sings along and I think it is something that calms him down. After he gets scared of a "roar" in the middle of the night, he asks that we sing it to him.
Parker's imagination is running wild too. Obviously with "roars under his bed," but it is fun to watch him play when he is by himself. It is amazing to see the changes that he makes in just a couple of months. He will play downstairs for a good hour, talking to himself and his toys before emerging from the basement.
I'm sure that I'm missing some things, but I will add them in future posts. My little boy is growing up!
