So far behind...
I feel so far behind!!! So much has happened since last time I've blogged including Parker's birthday. I will do my best to catch up.
First of all, Parker's birthday was the 29th of last month. We celebrated it with friends and family at the YMCA with an indoor pool party. The Y provided a "car" theme cake, with ice cream, punch and a small party room. It was kinda tight quarters since about 30 people showed up - but I don't think Parker noticed. :) A huge thank you to everyone who came and for all the gifts. Parker had a wonderful 2nd birthday.
(We have also sold our house and starting the moving process. I have some pictures to post from the day, but they are on my external hard drive which has already been moved over to my mom's house. As soon as things slow down I will post those pictures. Just a little hectic lately!!)
Then the Monday following was Little Sports Night. This was our second year to go. The organization that we are apart of, PAT, has events every other month for kids to attend. This one uses some high school athletes to play with the kids in their individual sports. Parker had a great time hitting the ball off the tee, shooting some hoops, playing tennis with balloons, and playing on the gym mats. It is so nice to have an activity night to go to to get Parker out of the house in the LONG, COLD winter we are having.
Parker also had his 2 year check up with Dr. Tsang. He weighs 31 lbs (50% percentile) and was 2 feet, 10 inches (90% percentile). So basically he is a tall kid with average weight. She was also very impressed with his intellectual/physical skills. She said that he is performing at what a 3 year old would be doing. Some of the tests were jumping off 2 feet over a piece of paper, drawing a line (not rounding the line), identifying animals and their sounds. He even understood some adjectives - "Parker, what do you do when you are tired? - "Night, night." "Parker, what do you do when you are hungry? - "Eat!"
Parker is doing great at talking. He will pretty much repeat anything that you say. Some of his favorite phrases are : "Whatcha doin'" "where'd it go" "more cookies, mama" "come here dada" (as he pats his thighs and/or claps his hands - like calling a dog -hehe) "ohhhh man " and "Swipper, no swipping" from Dora the Explorer TV show
Every day he amazes me with something new he says or recognizes. Everyone always says they are like a sponge at his age and boy are they right. He is also a very polite boy (Mommy is proud of that one!). He is very good about saying "please" and "thank you" without being reminded. He usually says please verbally, but still struggles with thank you - but he signs it instead. Whenever we are driving, he is always on "Bus" or "Big Truck" patrol! Not one passes without him saying exactly that! And his favorite color is definitely purple...according to him everything is "purple." Sometimes he gets "blue" or "red" right, but usually everything is purple when you ask him what color it is.
Since we had to outlaw baseball from the house (because he hits the ball too hard - very dangerous even with softee balls and bats), we have had to find other things that he enjoys. He likes to bowl in the kitchen. We set up some plastic cups and he bowls from the other side of the kitchen. He could do this for hours! He also enjoys doing puzzles - most of the puzzles we got from his FIRST birthday, but he hasn't showed much interest in them until now. I got him one for Valentine's Day too just to keep him on his toes. Between Christmas and his birthday, he also got a couple remote control cars that he enjoys driving around and chasing Reagan with. It was cute the other day; one of the cars has a battery charger that we have been keeping near a plug in in the living room and because inspectors were coming to look at the house we had to put it away in Parker's room. We were playing with the car and it ran out of juice. Kevin said that we would have to play with it later because it needed to charge. Parker ran straight to his room and brought out the charger, we really didn't even think he knew what it was for let alone where we stored it at in his room. So smart!!
As for Parker's sleep habits he is definitely getting less sleep than 6 months ago - but still plenty compared to some stories that I've heard. He usually goes to bed around 8 and wakes up at 7:30. He does sometimes get up in the middle of the night, but quickly goes back to bed usually without protest. He doesn't always take a nap, but when he does it is usually for a couple of hours. And Parker is a picky eater right now. It seems like one day he eats everything in sight, then for the next week he eats nothing. Loves McDonalds (real great huh!) and anything with carbs. Sometimes he will eat veggies if ranch dressing is involved. But we aren't pushing him to eat. If he doesn't want what Kevin and I are eating then he is excused from the table and goes to play. I guess if he gets hungry enough he will eat.
Parker's still has a great buddy Caden from the babysitters. Caden's parent just got done moving so we have been swipping their boxes. So yesterday we went over to pick some up and we decided to have Caden come over and play. It was acutally a decent day - sun was out and temperture was above 40 degrees so we packed up the wagon and headed over to the park with Reagan. The boys had fun running around! I was hoping to catch them talking it up (those 2 can really get going - we don't always understand what they are saying, but they sure do understand each other), but they weren't very talkative yesterday.
Then Parker's cousin Jozlynn turned 1!! YEA! So we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Meirowsky's house to celebrate. She got some great gifts and, as every 1 year old should, she REALLY enjoyed her cake! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOZLYNN!
Then last night we (Kevin, Parker, Loni, Eric, Grandma Lisa and myself) headed out to the new Intrust Bank Arena to watch the Thunder Hockey play. I don't think any of us are huge hockey fans, but the new Arena was really nice and we had a good time doing something different. Parker made friends with their mascot Thunder Dog (T-Dog) and even got on the JumboTron. He made it through all 3 periods - longer than I thought he would.
Then I'm hoping that you stopped reading at this point, but I have to have this "on record." Ohhhh...the silly things that mommy does...We had a faculty basketball game at school and since I've never played a day of basketball in my life I participated my being a cheerleader. Who would have known?
